About the event

Discover the "Friendly Invasion" on the Blickling & Aylsham Walking Tour!

During the height of World War II, the landscape of East Anglia changed forever when more than 300,000 American and Commonwealth personnel moved into local airbases. This summer, you can step back into the 1940s and experience that historic era firsthand with our fully guided Blickling and Aylsham Walking Tour! This immersive journey explores the deep connection between the grand Blickling estate, Aylsham, and the thousands of off-duty personnel who called this region their temporary home.

Your vintage experience begins at 10:00 AM at the Blickling Hall main gates. After an insightful guided exploration of the historic estate's wartime history, you will board an authentic vintage bus for a nostalgic transfer straight into the heart of Aylsham. From there, a second guided tour will lead you through Aylsham's vibrant market square, uncovering the lively stories of the Town Hall big-band…
