About the event

On 28 May, join Dr Tim Pestell FSA, Senior Curator of Archaeology at Norwich Castle Museum & Art Gallery, for a fascinating illustrated lecture exploring the remarkable treasures of the Gallery of Medieval Life.

Drawing on one of the most important collections of its kind in the country, this engaging talk will reveal how over 900 original artefacts - ranging from exquisite jewellery and carved ivories to everyday objects - bring the medieval world vividly to life. Through these objects, Dr Pestell will uncover the stories of how people in Norfolk and beyond lived, worked, worshipped and fought between the Norman Conquest and the Tudor age.

From the splendour of elite craftsmanship to the practical realities of daily life, the lecture offers a rare opportunity to delve deeper into the rich history behind the gallery’s displays, and to discover the human stories that connect modern Norfolk with its medieval past.
