About the event
In between spells of imprisonment for his filmmaking, director Panahi made this spellbinding movie about a group of former political prisoners who kidnap a man who they believe is their brutal tormentor, because they think they recognise the sound of his prosthetic leg. After showing their captive to others who were tortured by him, they eventually come to their conclusion. They are faced with a moral dilemma. The film is full of ambiguity, comedy, and pathos, and is a masterpiece from Iran’s master director, who bravely shot it in secret from the regime.
